Consolidate Everything or You Are a Communist!

HOMEGA ยท DEPT OF UNREDACTED INFORMATION AND CLICKBAIT Dispatch 4 of 15. A message from Wei Lin, Infrastructure.
Consolidate everything, or you are a communist.
There is no third option. We checked. We own the people who check.
Behind me in the picture are roughly three hundred companies that stopped existing in the last twenty years: acquired, merged, absorbed, liquidated, or kept as a name on a shelf in a licensing company. Banks that were too big to fail and then failed into bigger banks. Airlines that flew into other airlines. A department store older than the United States, liquidated in a spring. Read the small print. It is small because there is a great deal of it, and because we would prefer that you not.
Every one of those names was, at some point, someone's idea of independence. Independence is a line item. Line items get reconciled.
In The Social Life of Small Enclosed Spaces, Wei Lin is one of the people who made the mission to Titan buildable, except she called it infrastructure, then leverage, then liability. She reads the spreadsheet behind the inspiration. She knows which line items are people. The crew are three hundred more names on a ship she owns, a very long way from anyone who could object.
Object in the comments. We know where you work. Then read the first pages and buy the book, or buy it on Amazon, which, we note, has consolidated quite a lot itself.
This department is required to tell you that this post is clickbait. It is. The book is not.
